Anat Schatz is a certified Feldenkrais teacher offering individual lessons at Medical Experts in Kiryat Motzkin, led by Dr. Maher Hijazi. Lessons combine movement, curiosity and attention to the body.

A welcoming atmosphere without competition

Lessons offer a welcoming space to explore the body and movement with curiosity and enjoyment. There is no competition or fixed range of movement to achieve: each person's abilities and sensations are the starting point.

Anat holds a Feldenkrais teaching certificate from the College at Wingate. The training shown on the certificate covers Awareness Through Movement and Functional Integration.

What do individual lessons focus on?

Lessons aim to expand movement options and support greater comfort in everyday activities. Depending on individual needs and suitability, goals may include:

  • Exploring range of movement, posture and how the body is organised.
  • Developing coordination, balance and body awareness.
  • Exploring the connection between movement and breathing and reducing unnecessary effort.
  • Supporting confidence in movement and quality of life.
  • Finding more comfortable ways to move when experiencing back, neck or joint discomfort.
  • Creating a calm space for learning, awareness and easing a sense of tension.

These are goals of an individual learning process, not a promise of a medical outcome or pain relief. If you have pain or a medical limitation, discuss suitable adaptations with the clinic team. Lessons do not replace necessary medical assessment or treatment.

What happens during a Feldenkrais lesson?

Wear comfortable clothing. Depending on your abilities, a lesson may take place on a treatment table or mat, lying on your back, side or front, or sometimes sitting. Positions and activities are adapted to the person, without forcing an uncomfortable movement.

Lessons explore movements of the feet, knees, hips and spine, as well as turning the head and moving the eyes. We consider how the parts of the body relate to one another: how movement in one area affects another, and which options allow greater ease.

Like a movement laboratory, lessons involve trying, sensing and comparing different possibilities. The focus is learning through sensation and movement, coordination, and discovering comfortable alternatives for everyday activities.

Preparing for your visit

  • Wear comfortable clothes that allow movement.
  • Mention difficulty lying down or getting onto a mat, and relevant movement limitations, in advance.
  • Describe what you would like to feel or do more easily in daily life.
  • Ask the clinic team about suitability and appointment arrangements.

Each lesson stands on its own, while learning can build across sessions. The aim is to become more familiar with the body and discover freer, more comfortable ways of moving at your own pace.
